In our most recent newsletter we share the news of the creation of the Tabitha Ministry in the Runyinya community and the seeds of kindness and love being spread there:
As We Forgive (AWF) is working in Rwandan churches to help their communities overcome poverty both spiritually and economically. Over the past few months, AWF and the local church in the Runyinya community have helped local residents discover their personal and community assets, and determine what they can do as a community to grow out of poverty. As a result, forty youth who were trained were inspired to create a group named Tabitha Ministry, which serves the most needy in the community and is supported by the local church.
Tabitha Ministry started out by reaching out to an elderly man, Francois Mudende whose wife is in prison. Tabitha Ministry helped him by cultivating his land, where he can plant sweet potatoes and beans. They also provided Mudende with groceries and Rwf 10,000 for his use. After this activity, Mudende thanked everyone by saying, “I have spent the whole night thinking about how people have chosen a lost man like me. I am surprised by the great God has done for me. I still don’t know what to say. This act of kindness has helped me to teach love to my children, and greater understanding of why we need to go to Church, and as of yesterday, they have committed their lives to Christ.”
